Peggy JenkinsPeggy Joy Jenkins, Ph.D. was the recipient of a 1990 Golden Balloon Award from World Children's Day Foundation, a branch of UNICEF, for the outstanding contribution of this book to the well-being of children. She is the author of Nurturing Spirituality In Children, A Child of God, The Magic of Puppetry, and Art for the Fun of It ---parent/teacher education books highly praised for the quality and variety of the education activities they describe. Art for the Fun of It, a book that encourages creative thinking, has been adopted as a text by many schools and colleges and has over 50,000 copies in print. Dr. Jenkins is the founder and director of a non-profit educational service organization called JOYFUL CHILD INC. Its purpose is to offer easy-to-use models that honor and awaken the natural joy, the inner essence, of children and adults. To this end JOYFUL CHILD INC. offers a quarterly national magazine, Joyful Child Journal, symposiums, facilitator training seminars, and parenting classes. In 1996, the first Joyful Child Family Center, a preschool and training facility opened in Scottsdale, Arizona. Facilitators from around the country are trained and licensed to offer Joyful Child classes to parents, teachers, and caregivers in their home states. This book is the main textbook for these trainings and seminars. Peggy Joy Jenkins is also a seminar leader in parent/teacher education, and a cosultant in the area of behavior/learning styles. Her formal education includes a M.Ed. in Early Childhood Education and a Ph.D. in Adult Education. The mother of two grown children, Dr. Jenkins currently resides in Scottsdale.
