I'm assisting my good friend, and x-mother-in-law, in her search for a publisher. Marge, 80, has written a short manuscript about her experiences in Hawaii, 1970's where she founded and directed a metaphysical pre-school. It's called "Children as Teachers - Creating a New Relationship with Choices, Agreements, and Guilt-Free Parenting. The reader understands the guilt-free parenting philosophy that developed, through Marge's own extraordinary experiences with the children and what they taught her. The manuscript is full of love and miracles. Marge's first goal is to publish this work in order to offer a way for parents, children and teachers to communicate with each other with respect, self-responsibility and unconditional love. Her second goal is to establish a non-profit pre-school and learning center for teachers and parents using this time tested and loving philosophy.
At a vibrant 80 years old, Marge is very anxious to get this material out there. It has been 10 years in the making and is her only writing. She was well ahead of her time in the 1970's and this information has finally come of age so she wants this message to survive.
I understand that you are not taking new submissions as this time, so any help you can give will be very much appreciated.
My sincere thanks and appreciation for the wonderful work you are doing.

Hi Barbara,
I've been looking at all the wonderful authors you have. I feel slightly humbled--I don't have a Phd. I look forward to working with you and the man-of-the-house on my book, Through The Eyes Of Santa. My book looks a little different then what you normaly publish. Thanks for giving an ole grandpa a chance.
My Regards

I have known Ricky for at least 20yrs. He is very well known and extremely well respected individual in Canada. As a black Canadian he also has been a positive role model. I think that it is terrible that Canadian bookstores are not stocking his book. Because of who he is, the book should be a easy sell coast to coast.
There is an untouched market for African Canadian motivational/inspirational marterial.
Does your company publish any other genre. |

| I have a mss, Lord of the Night, Lord of the Day, in poetry and prose, vignettes of my experiences of the presence of God. No preaching, no esoteric poetry. My book is in three sections: experiences with patients and families as a hospital chaplain, how my Christian faith has impacted my life and how I have experienced the presence of God in the world of nature. It sounds like Aslan would be a perfect match for publishing my book. |

Checking your guidelines for submissions. I'm preparing a third book.
I've heard Aslan offers royalties. Is Aslan presently offering advances as well?
Best wishes for a wonderful 2004.

Dear Barbara and Harold Levine:
I am working on a non-fiction biography that seems to fit your criteria quite well, in fact, more so than any other publisher I have researched, and I've researched quite a few! I see that you state you are not taking queries until at least January (your statement at your last homepage update in June), but I am going to send you mine imminently anyways because I am so confident it is exactly the type of writing you desire to publish. Forgive me for my presumptious indiscretion, but I truly believe we both can benefit greatly.

My completed manuscript is a memoir, the story of two sisters, one who suffers from mental illness and searches for her five-year old daughter who has been violently removed from her, and the other sister desperately trying to get her mentally ill sister help. My little sister, Terri, was a police officer on her way to becoming a detective when mental illness struck.
I look forward to submitting an outline and sample chapter, and will continue to check your website for information.
Thank you. |
