Reginald R. GerigReginald R. Gerig is Professor Emeritus of Piano at Wheaton College, Wheaton, Illinois, and is the editor of Piano Preludes on Hymns and Chorales, in which three of his own works were included. Hi is past president of Wheaton College Scholastic Honor Society, and a member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers, the Illinois State Music Teachers Association, and the Music Teachers National Association.
Born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, Gerig won the state piano competition at Indiana University at the age of fifteen. He was granted a Bachelor of Music degree with highest honor from Wheaton College, and went on to Juilliard where he earned he B.S. and M.S. degrees in piano. He joined the piano faculty at Eastman School of Music (Rochester, N.Y.) in 1950, returning in 1952 to Wheaton. A performer as well as teacher, he gives numerous piano and organ concerts and is organist for his church. He frequently judges piano competitions.
